Petrified Forest NP

We spent the morning in the Petrified Forest National Park.  Our primary hike was the suggested, but unmarked, path to Martha’s Butte.  This landmark was clearly important to people long before it was named for Martha by the present regime.  The petroglyphs are amazing.  I was expecting one or two markings based on the NPS description, but discovered an extensive set surrounding the butte.  The area was also littered with many pieces of colorful petrified wood, including many massive and largely intact logs.  The Painted Desert features vast and varied hued badlands that are hard to photograph.
